Maria
Snigirevskaya
Born in Leningrad in 1967. Began taking photographs
in 1980 at the age of thirteen. (Ms. Snigirevskaya is the daughter
of the late Boris Smelov, one of the most famous Russian photographers
of the previous generation.) From 1983, she has worked as a professional
photographer. From 1986 she worked as a photographer for the Russian
State Museum. Member of the Russian Photographer’s Union since 1992.
Recipient of the award of the publishing house "Planeta"
(Moscow) in 1992. 1998-2000, recognized as a recipient of State
stipend as an activist for the culture and art of Russia. From 2001,
Ms. Snigirevskaya has worked as a freelance artist.
